The deadline is part of the evidence. A prediction of an approaching planet asks the sky to deliver something visible by a particular time. When the date passes, the story faces a choice: revise the explanation or acknowledge the failed prediction.

01 / An approaching world becomes a recurring warning

Nibiru doomsday claims attached an alleged hidden planet to expectations of global catastrophe, including the wave of predictions surrounding 2012. The NASA materials in this file address the astronomical claim, not every ancient-text interpretation associated with it. In later circulation, the proposed threat could be moved to another date or blended with unrelated concerns about solar activity and polar change.

The theory's atmosphere depends on concealment: observatories supposedly know what is coming, officials remain silent, and scattered images offer the truth. That structure makes a failed deadline easy to reinterpret as evidence that the public was given the wrong date.

02 / The scientist receiving the frightened questions

NASA scientist David Morrison's oral history describes his experience responding to the 2012 scare. He recalls claims about supposed safe locations and the scale of the surrounding publicity. His account is firsthand testimony about dealing with the rumour, not eyewitness testimony to the alleged planet.

That perspective changes the tone of the case. The subject is not only an incorrect prediction; it is also people trying to decide whether their families are in danger. A scientist's reassurance can sound patronising to someone who thinks the scientist belongs to the concealment. The appropriate response is therefore a checkable explanation, not an appeal to credentials alone.

03 / The argument for concealment

Adherents cite anomalous-looking sky photographs, alleged insider warnings and interpretations of older writings. These are different evidence types. A modern photographic artefact cannot authenticate an ancient translation; an ancient passage cannot establish a present orbital position. The most testable part of the story is the proposed planet's observable location and motion.

04 / What astronomy requires of the claim

NASA's assessment rejects the impending-collision claim. A large approaching object would have observable consequences that do not depend on trusting one space agency's photograph. Readers should distinguish this prediction from legitimate searches for distant objects in the outer solar system. A hypothetical remote planet is not the same proposition as a concealed world about to strike Earth. Changing between those meanings protects the story from tests it originally invited.

The allegation, in brief

A concealed planet is said to be approaching Earth while astronomers suppress the impending catastrophe.

Where the archive stands

NASA’s archived responses distinguish this doomsday story from actual astronomical research. A massive body approaching the predicted encounter would have observable gravitational and optical effects. The advertised 2012 catastrophe did not occur.

Do not confuse a speculative distant planet with a repeatedly failed collision prophecy.

Bring one source.

What observation would be necessary to establish a hidden approaching planet, and has the claim supplied it?
