Diana: the alleged royal plot
A Paris tunnel became a world of accusations.

The departure from the Ritz was supposed to evade the cameras. Instead, the journey ended against a pillar in the Alma underpass. The chase, the injured survivor, and the questions around a white car would become parts of a much larger murder allegation.
01 / The short journey through Paris
Shortly after midnight on 31 August 1997, Diana and Dodi Al Fayed left the Ritz in a Mercedes driven by Henri Paul, with bodyguard Trevor Rees-Jones in the front passenger seat. The car crashed in the underpass. Paul and Fayed died at the scene; Diana died after emergency treatment. Rees-Jones survived serious injuries. Operation Paget’s opening reconstruction fixes those people and movements before considering the subsequent theories.
02 / Witnesses at different points in the night
The report separates hotel observations, photographers’ accounts, road witnesses, medical testimony, and the bodyguards’ recollections. A witness to departure cannot necessarily describe the impact; a survivor’s injuries can limit memory. The sections on blocking vehicles and bright flashes show why a dramatic report must be located within a precise sequence. They also show that an account can be investigated without being accepted as evidence of an ambush.
03 / The allegation Mohamed Al Fayed advanced
Fayed alleged that an establishment plot killed his son and Diana. Claims about the relationship, a possible pregnancy, interference with the car, and intelligence involvement supplied proposed motives and mechanisms. Paget treated those as distinct allegations to test, rather than allowing suspicion about one issue to certify another. The father's grief and persistence explain an important voice in the dispute; they cannot independently prove the acts he alleged.
04 / The reconstruction that challenges murder
Paget’s examination of the driving, toxicology, vehicle, witness accounts, and medical response did not establish the proposed murder conspiracy. The useful reading is not merely the conclusion but the report’s treatment of each claimed anomaly. An unidentified vehicle or a missing image is a gap to investigate. To turn it into assassination evidence requires showing how it connects to a deliberate fatal act. This archive leaves the full report available because the detailed objections matter more than a slogan about an accident.
The allegation, in brief
The fatal crash was allegedly arranged by British institutions to prevent a marriage or protect the monarchy.
Where the archive stands
Operation Paget investigated the murder allegations and found no supporting conspiracy. The report examines the crash, witnesses, and specific claims. Tragedy does not make a complex assassination scenario more probable.
Grief asks why. An investigation still has to establish how.
