Vaccines rewriting DNA
A new platform, burdened with an old fear.

A new technology arrived with unfamiliar letters: mRNA. For some readers, ‘genetic instructions’ sounded like an instruction to rewrite the recipient. The controversy turns on whether those descriptions refer to the same biological process.
01 / The question raised during authorization
At the FDA’s December 2020 advisory meeting, manufacturer representatives discussed how the mRNA vaccine worked and addressed the suggestion that it could alter DNA. The transcript preserves that exchange in the setting of product review. It is a direct account of the manufacturer’s explanation, with regulatory scrutiny around it, rather than an independent demonstration by every participant who later repeated it.
02 / What recipients can and cannot witness
A person can report a reaction after an injection. They cannot determine an alteration of their genome by sensation alone. The literal claim requires biological measurements with an appropriate comparison and a demonstrated causal pathway. This is why a testimonial about feeling different, however sincere, cannot settle the molecular question. Timing establishes that one event followed another; it does not identify the mechanism.
03 / The concern about residual material
A later argument concerns residual DNA fragments from manufacturing rather than the mRNA instruction itself. FDA’s 2023 response discusses product specifications, the lipid delivery system, and genotoxicity evidence. Those details deserve examination. A finding that a manufacturing process leaves limited residual material is not the same as evidence that vaccinated people’s genomes have been rewritten.
04 / The biological distinction critics insist on
The standard explanation is that vaccine mRNA supplies a temporary instruction for protein production, rather than modifying the recipient’s nuclear DNA. Different vaccine platforms should not be collapsed into one mechanism. A serious contrary case would show integration in recipients and its significance using validated methods. Product-quality questions and adverse-event monitoring remain worthwhile without recasting all of them as evidence for the specific genome-rewriting claim.
The allegation, in brief
mRNA vaccines are alleged to alter recipients’ genetic code as part of a hidden program.
Where the archive stands
mRNA vaccines do not rewrite human DNA. Their mechanism teaches cells to produce an antigen that prompts an immune response. The genetic-control claim misdescribes that mechanism.
A biological claim needs a biological pathway.
